A unique Barossa Valley holiday rental, offering a mix of old and new-style accommodation, has been listed for sale with multimillion-dollar price hopes.

From the roadside, 6 Murray St, Tanunda presents as a grand 1890s Victorian bluestone home, surrounded by lush gardens.

Boasting all the charm of a bygone era, the home offers six bedrooms and four bathrooms and comes with wood fireplaces, high ornate ceilings, beautiful floorboards and sash windows.

Tucked at the rear of the 2352sqm block, four architecturally-designed, self-contained apartments offer more contemporary accommodation, each with two queen-sized bedrooms and two bathrooms.

There’s also a heated outdoor swimming pool.

Selling agent David Braunack, from Homburg Real Estate, said short-term accommodation that catered to large groups was rare in the Barossa Valley, making this property, which can sleep up to 33 people, “quite special’’.

Barossa Dreams is a grand Victorian home, built in the 1890’s.

It consists of six bedrooms, four bathrooms and several living/dining areas.

Stunning high ornate ceilings, beautiful floorboards and sash windows give a genuine feeling of warmth from a bygone era.

“Most of the Airbnbs around here are more two or three bedrooms so to get this amount of people on the one property is pretty unique,’’ he said.

“You could have a (large) group of friends or little clubs rent out the whole thing. Or small groups and couples can just take one of the small units at the back.

“It’s also a great location. It’s easy walking distance to restaurants and all sorts of tourist things.’’

The main home was originally built as a residence and surgery for Dr Franz Juttner, while the apartment buildings were added prior to being purchased by the current owners, Kym and Steve Brown.

Until recently, the couple had operated several short-term rentals in the Barossa but are now divesting their Getaway SA business operations and plan to retire, Mr Braunack said.

“They had a very successful (tourist accommodation) business but they’ve now reached a stage of life where they want to slow down,’’ he said.

“They’ve moved to Adelaide and this is the last of the properties (to sell) – it’s the gem in the crown.’’

Barossa Valley Apartments, located in elegant seclusion, are a group of four modern architecturally designed contemporary apartments in a resort style setting.

Offered as a whole, this once in a lifetime opportunity to purchase a unique property in the heart of the Barossa Valley, is now here.

The property also features an outdoor heated swimming pool.

With a commanding position at the entrance of Tanunda, Mr Braunack said the property was well-known among locals and had attracted strong interest from potential buyers, including

some from interstate.

He said there were confirmed accommodation bookings until the end of the Barossa Vintage Festival next April, with year-round events in the region providing an ongoing income stream.

Mr Braunack expected the property would sell for about $4 million, with offers closing on November 22.

“Like all real estate, this one is all about position, position, position,’’ he said.

“But you’re getting four units at the back of the house that would probably bring half a million dollars apiece, so that makes the front house really quite reasonably priced.’’
