Uber popular prankster Jackson O’Doherty put jokes aside in front of millions of social media fans to fulfil a life goal, surprising his mum to tears by paying off her mortgage.
The online star who has 11 million followers on Facebook alone revealed to his mother Janine and sister Isla that he’d transferred over $100,000 just before his popular podcast “so you can pay off the rest of your mortgage”.
He told The Courier-Mail afterwards that “a life goal of mine was to help family in any way I could, and paying off my parents’ mortgages has helped them take a lot of financial pressure off”.

“I’ve been making good money for a while, but I didn’t do it straight away because I wanted to make sure my money could be used smartly first to keep making money,” he said.
“I have a good close relationship with my parents even though I was a nightmare of a kid and stressed them out. They were patient and believed in me, always supporting me in what I wanted to do to make me happy. We didn’t grow up with a lot, but they always worked hard to make sure we had the essentials and gave me a great childhood.”
On being told of the transfer, his mother Janine gasped and said ‘hooooooollly sh****t, oh my god, I’m going to cry”.
Mr O’Doherty told his mother “pay it off and I hope it goes up in value. This is a gift for me to you. I want nothing back”.
His emotional mum said “I don’t think you realise how much that makes a difference to my whole life. It really does. That just takes the heat off me, that’s the only debt I have (apart from her car).”
Mr O’Doherty said “I wrote that down six, seven years ago when I was still living at Grandma’s. I said I’m going to pay off mortgages, I’m going to help my family and that’s what I’ve done.”

The new-age millionaire, who struggled for years holding down two jobs while making fun videos he hoped would appeal to a wider audience, wowed fans after amassing a life-changing $5m to $6m in 2020 during an OnlyFans stint before returning to his first love, pranks.
“I’ve been doing social media for 10 years now as a job and whether people respect it or have a problem with how I’ve made my money I haven’t taken any shortcuts to earn what I have,” he told The Courier-Mail.
He told his mum “I’ve made my money legally. Some of it’s controversial, some of it’s questionable but I wouldn’t have been able to make the money if I didn’t put the work in in the early years”.

“It took me five or six years of continually making videos and grinding and ignoring opinions dealing with all kinds of sh****t as well in my personal life, as well as struggling mentally on and off.”
“My family has always been there to help me, has always supported me and so it’s nice to get to give back to my family, and that’s why while you’re here I want to show you this,” he said, revealing the transfer to his mother.
After hugs, his mother said: “that’s just beautiful, thank you. That means so much to me”.
Mr O’Doherty told his mother “you deserve it”.
“I wouldn’t be able to make money if you didn’t give birth to me. Technically, I owe you a percentage of my income and net worth for life. Now I want you to pay that mortgage off because interest rates and the government and inflation.”
The amount was “more than enough” to pay off the mortgage, his mother said.

The family is tight-knit, with Mr O’Doherty convincing his father to sell the family home in Port Stephens, Nelson Bay, to move to the Gold Coast a few years ago.
In an earlier interview with The Courier Mail, Mr O’Doherty said growing up, they were “a normal average family, never with a lot of money but we never went without food or a roof over our head”.
“They did a great job. It’s made me very appreciative and grateful for what I’ve got, so I want to give back.”
